I was looking around for new visual styles for XP recently, and I noticed that quite a few of them had really intersting wallpapers - the nature of visual style screen-capping means that there's not always going to be room for a large background image with any great amount of detail, so a popular choice was to use a background image with an intersting but relatively ambiguous main area, with a small, boxed-in detail area for something or other. I wanted to attempt this style myself, and here is the result.


The name here, Photographs and Faded Letters, is an homage to the lyrics of the song Faded Letters by the tragically short-lived band subseven, the only band labeled "Screamo" which I hold in my list of top 20 favorite artists. Faded Letters was one of the songs from their EP which was passed over for a remake and rerelease on their full-length debut. It was also my favorite song off the EP. For some reason, those lyrics popped into my head while thinking up a name for this wallpaper, and I decided to leave it.


This wallpaper uses this image as the base, as well as a brush from the Fresh Foliage Photoshop brush pack.
